When the World Needs You Most,
It’s Time to Show Up
The Astrology of
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Develop a deeper relationship to the world around you amidst tumultuous times.
An Air nomad, having disappeared for a century, returns to find the world quite different than he left it. His nation & people has been destroyed in pursuit of finding him, and a ruthless dictator has sought to conquer the other nations and oppress those under his control. Having seen the devastation that his absence has brought, he and his new friends, Katara, Sokka, & Toph, set out to bring balance to the world, and free it from the tyrannical might of the Fire Nation.
In this course, we will spend each week breaking down a particular season of the show, analyzing the chart of not only the show’s premiere but those of salient episodes within each season. Through the lenses of both Western traditional astrology as well as sidereal Vedic astrology, we will take a deep dive into the beauty of the alignment of the show’s themes with the narrative of the sky at the time these episodes aired.
As we move into a period of Saturn’s fall in Aries, this show’s wrestling with rebellion, honor, justice, and chosen family highlight similar themes we contended with the last time Saturn experienced debility and bring us face-to-face with our responsibility to show up with our gifts and do our part to bring balance to the world.
